Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sat down with Oprah for an explosive two-hour-tell all interview where literally nothing was off-limits. Might I just say, the English Breakfast Tea was SPILT and was scalding.  The Sussexes opened up about literally everything, ranging from Meghan learning to curtsy to meet the Queen, to Harry’s relationship with Prince William, to their decision to step away from the royal family. Oprah accomplished more in just this one interview than I have in the last 12 months, but who’s to judge?

One of the most shocking revelations was that Meghan never online stalked Harry when they first met. This left me reeling, because I literally know everything about a guy before the first date, so I call BS on this one.

There’s honestly a lot to unpack, so if you missed the interview, check out the biggest revelations below (in no particular order), so you can act like you watched it.

It’s A Girl!

So so so so cute. Meghan also confirmed that she is due this summer. I wonder what the baby’s name will be *cough* Diana *cough*.

The Family Had Racist Conversations About Archie

I think that this revelation was definitely what I found the most shocking and upsetting. We all knew Meghan was no stranger to racism from the UK press, but even Oprah was shocked at how far it went. Meghan revealed that within the royal family, there were “concerns and conversations about how dark Archie’s skin might be when he was born”. Oprah asked Harry point blank which member of the family said this, and she responded, “I think it would be very damaging to them”. This morning, Oprah went on CBS Monday morning and revealed that it was neither Prince Philip nor Queen Elizabeth who made the comments. My money is on either Prince William or Charles.

Meghan Had Suicidal Ideations

The duchess said that in the midst of intense scrutiny when she was pregnant with Archie, she began to have some “real and frightening” thoughts. The duchess asked ‘the firm’ if she could go somewhere to get mental health help, but was told she couldn’t because it “wouldn’t look good on the family”. She told Oprah that her mental health deteriorated so much, she just didn’t even want to be alive anymore.

Prince Charles Stopped Taking Harry’s Calls

If you weren’t listening carefully to Harry, you probably would have missed this, because Harry just casually slipped this one in the interview. Luckily for you all, I have ears like a bat and caught it. Harry was telling Oprah about the conversations he was having with his family regarding stepping down and said that he had three conversations with his grandmother and two with his father “before he stopped taking my calls”. I’ve always known that Charles is the WOAT, but this is just stone cold.

The Family Cut Harry Off Financially

Harry also revealed to Oprah that his family cut him off financially in early 2020, which as around the same time when him and Meghan decided to step back in their roles as senior members of the family. He explained that their new life is only possible because of what his mother left him in her will. Harry said he thought that his mother must have seen something like this coming, because she left both of her son’s $8.9 million when she passed.

The Queen Knows How to Use Zoom

During the interview, Harry made a point to tell Oprah that the family has been setting up lots of Zoom calls with Grandma Liz across the pond so that she can see Archie. This means that the Queen knows how to use Zoom. Am I the only one who found that a little shocking? Yeah? Just me? Whatever.

Overall, it seems like Meghan and Harry put themselves and their family first by moving to the U.K., and are working on either maintaining or mending their relationships with members of the Royal family. If there’s one thing I learned from this is that royal or not, all families are crazy and have their own shit. TBA on if Buckingham Palace will release a statement, but based on everything that was said last night, I’m going to say it’s a no from me on that.
